The weekend of the 5th & 6th July sees the biggest sporting event in the world come to Yorkshire when 200 of the planet’s top cyclists will battle for the iconic red & white polka dot jersey of the mountain stages. And for Bronte Water Coolers, who’s premises are directly on the route in Honley, Huddersfield it opens up all sorts of opportunities for involvement.
Hill climbing features heavily in this particular stage with 50,000 people expected to watch the race up Holme Moss alone with another 150,000 lining the route through Huddersfield. The 100 day countdown begins this week and the Yorkshire Councils of North Yorks, York City, Craven District, Bradford, Kirklees & South Yorks will be busy with festivals and events taking place to publicise the race.
Bronte Water Coolers will be taking a full and active role in the event and has entered into a sponsorship package with the Honley Business Association, providing vehicles and props to assist in the weekend’s events. Ideas are flowing thick and fast as to how we can decorate the company’s premises in the spirit of the event. Do we go with the traditional yellow or go with the red and white polka dot of the Mountain Stages? Nothing is yet decided (although a Bar and BBQ will no doubt be involved) and we’ll be keeping you posted as to what Bronte Water Coolers will be doing over Le Tour Weekend. However, rest assured that you will be invited to join us for the celebrations nearer the time.
